Yesterday we launched the Playground LTM. So a lot of you rushed in to produce and play our matchmaking service fell buy fortnite materials. We have since divided the Playground matchmaker from the one which affects the default modes and made large developments to assist with the amount of players. We plan to push these changes and improvements live today now to bring the Playground LTM straight online.

Epic Games has launched its first official breakout of Fortnite Season 5 and also confirmed a couple of things we already knew. At a tweet on Monday afternoon, the company stated that the newest Fortnite season was just 3 days off. Though the July 12 launch date has been previously declared, it's wonderful to have it supported since Epic may occasionally be a little late on their release -- looking at you Playground Mode.

While the official launch date is nice, it is not the only tease at the tweet, which seems to include a mask appearing out of among those rifts that keep popping in-game up. While enthusiast speculation around the mask is already heating up online, it seems probably that this is really a reference to the Japanese kitsune, or fox. In accordance with Western yokai folklore, the kitsune may shapeshift -- mostly into human kind -- also possesses various supernatural characteristics.

While it's hard to say what this could mean for Fortnite Season 5, it will seem to be the first reference to Japan we've seen up to now. Though other eras of history have emerged -- such as wooden carriages, pirate references or anchors to ancient Egypt -- that is actually the first time we have seen something that points to Historical Japan as a possible influence to this season's heavily speculated, but still unconfirmed, time-travel motif.
