Panax notoginseng is an upright perennial herb belonging to Araliaceae ginseng species and is a famous Chinese herbal medicine. As an important medicinal plant for its haemostatic and restorative properties , is used extensively for the treatment of cardiovascular disease , brain vasculature disorder , inflammation , body pain , trauma and internal and external bleeding due to injury . Panax notoginseng has anti-tumor and anti-aging effects, and, similar to Panax ginseng and Panax quin quefolius, it is very effective for hematemesis , pistaxis , abnormal uterine bleeding , traumatic bleeding , and cardio-cerebro vascular diseases , and also has been regarded as an health food ingredient. Panax notoginseng contains dammarane-type ginsenosides as major constituents. It has been used as a curative and protective ingredient in oriental traditional medicine for nearly 1,000 years , and the use of this herb is increasing . Currently Redix Et Rhizoma Notoginseng grows primarily (over 95%) in Wenshan county of China. The total production is about 10 million kg per year in China. Many products have been exported to Japan , Corea , Southeast .
