This week, the British Columbia Lottery Company announced that there would be some changes to the requirements of the Game Break Self Exclusion Program at the casino. With the new regulations, customers will be required to present government-issued photo IDs to register. The regulator said the official implementation date will be announced next week.

Game Break is a voluntary and secret program that allows players to relax from gambling for a selected period of time. Once an individual joins it, they choose not to gamble at BC gambling houses or Play Now. The latter is Crown Corporation's official iGaming platform, the only online website in BC to regulate gambling.

After the changes take effect, you must present a government-issued photo ID to participate in the program. Identification will be performed by security personnel, and the photo ID will be checked against the database of individuals registered in the program. It does not store personal information of people who can enter the game facility.

According to Crown, the new requirement is consistent with the goal of having the world's healthiest athletes through an evidence-based player-health program that focuses on positive outcomes. A third-party review of the self-exclusion program shows that participants believe identification in casinos will best support their choice of refusal to enter these game venues.

The BCLC also reminded that British Columbia people have access to free prevention, treatment and support services through gambling support BC. However, the official implementation date of the photo ID has not been revealed yet. However, players should be aware that even now, identification can be requested for their age or identification, as it also goes along with the process of claiming jackpot prize money.

However, it is up to them to keep their promises even after they are enrolled in a self-exclusion program. However, Crown Corporation believes new changes to casino identification requirements will help it take a break from gambling by preventing attempts to enter one of the many gaming venues across the state.

It was the second time in 2023 that BCLC made some improvements to the game brake self-exclusion program. In January, the Crown Agency reported updating the program, increasing accessibility and adding elements for further protection. The update was divided into two parts, a restoration process for players who decided to return with a new name.

A few months later, the BCLC announced that it had become the Sports Integrity Union Lottery. The latter, formerly known as the Global Lottery Monitoring System, promotes responsible gambling. BCLC is now the third Canadian lottery to join, after Lotto Quebec and Ontario Lottery and gaming companies.
